One of my best friends from way back invited me to check out the Governor's island show last night with Josh Ritter. Converse has been providing several free shows over the summer out there and i was interested in checking the whole thing out. I knew nothing about Josh going into this but left a BIG FAN. the whole show reminded me of something from another time...blues mixed with bluegrass and then brought back contemparory with a strong rock vibe. Something about the whole thing reminded me of the old Garrison Keillor show i grew up listening to on road trips.

All in all the show was really nice, it was a much more mellow vibe in comparison to the dead weather show from Wednesday and converse had a great VIP setup so we could watch either from stage left or backstage.

Josh is a True Singer/Songwriter and has immense potential...the nicest thing to see is how genuinely happy he is to be here...he's got this smile the whole time that you can really relate to, its like he's truely excited about every show he does and the fans he has, this is rare to see with the current sea of jaded talent.

Everyone should give this guy a listen...he'll grow on you for sure.
