Design Solution: Losing Objects Between The Cushions of Your Sofa

Furniture designers are downright cool. While most of us see furniture as just something to sit on (or at best, something to match the color scheme of a room), furniture designers are constantly re-imagining everyday objects as something fantastic. Take a look at this awesomeness:

I believe it was Gertrude Stein who said, "A couch is a couch is a couch is a couch" (right?), but this couch is not just another couch. Designer Daisuke Motogi has created this concept called "Lost in Sofa", which embraces the idea of losing objects in the cracks of your furniture. You can stuff magazines, a remote control, your cellphone, and other small objects into the tight cracks of the furniture, and they will never be lost again.

Now just imagine how much change could be scrounged from between the cracks...

From the darkest depths of the deep

This is an amazing package from Kraken. Full of amazing things. Including a DVD of these brilliantly written and superbly narrated micro-films…and, amazingly, a bottle of their finest strong, rich, black and smooth stuff.

You've got to gape in awe at the Kraken brand; I have no idea how well sales are going but the dedication and commitment leveled at design and writing craft used to market the product is rare, brave and impressive.

Marais USA

(Haley Boyd and Catherine Chen)

Marias USA, started by Haley Boyd and Catherine Chen, is the product of two super chic girls living in Brooklyn. After a long stay in Paris the two girls decided to take streamlined design and sell it at affordable prices. They are the "affordable, yet chic shoe." What we love about Marias USA is the fact that good design doesn't have to break the bank. These two girls are going to blow up the design scene, no doubt.
